Samsung’s Twin Cooling Refrigerators

If you are thinking of buying a new Refrigerator for your kitchen and you are not sure which one to get? Well, why not consider a Samsung Refrigerator with Twin Cooling technology. Samsung refrigerators are known for their functionality as well as sleek and beautiful modern designs. They come in colors that can fit any kitchen mood, from the professional looking ‘Stainless Steel Land’ refrigerators to the easier and beautiful colored ones that blend in seamlessly with the rest of your kitchen furniture. A plus of course is the Twin Cooling System, which is one of the reasons why these Samsung Fridges stand out.

What is Twin Cooling anyways? That is the fundamental question you need to ask before even deciding to buy that Samsung Refrigerator with a Twin Cooling System. The answer can be made complicated or it can be simplified. We will tackle both approaches. Let us start with the technical method that will satisfy all the tech-heads out there. Twin Cooling means that the refrigerator is equipped with the traditional single compressor, the only difference is that it has two evaporators rather than one. The evaporators branch into the different sections of the refrigerator. Now, for the simple explanation: The Twin Cooling System means that your freezer and your fresh foods get cooled air through different tubes. This means that the air from the freezer does not mingle with the air in the refrigerator side.

Now that we have gotten the definitions out of the way, let us talk about the various advantages of getting a Samsung Refrigerator with a Twin Cooling System. One of the most obvious benefits as it relates to the Twin Cooling System is the “Odor Factor”. The Twin cooling system assures that no odor from the refrigerator side escapes into the other compartments, which is what happens with regular cooling systems. This means that the smell of the fish in the fresh foods does not mix with the “pristine condition” of the ice or anything else. As a result, you will not have to worry about putting delicate foods like cakes, pastries and fruits and later having them taste like Month-Old fish.
Another benefit to Samsung’s Twin Cooling System is the fact that it can keep the freezer at the ideal temperature at all times and you wouldn’t have to be concerned about your frozen items going bad. The fresh food compartment will also be able to maintain an ideal humidity. This means your fresh vegetables and fruits will no longer be exposed to the dry freezer air and they will last longer. Samsung Fridges in general are very easy to clean and have a user-friendly design.

Another, not so ‘ideal’ advantage to getting a Samsung Refrigerator with a Twin Cooling System is the Bragging Rights! You can bet your friends and neighbors will be drooling with envy because of the fancy (yet highly functional) Twin Cooling System from Samsung.

Many models of Samsung refrigerators use this Twin Cooling Technology. They are available in bottom mount freezer, side by side, and French door designs. Samsung also offers a four door refrigerator. Instead of just two evaporators the RM257AB, has four. Each drawer or door is independently controlled and the bottom two are convertible. The least expensive Twin Cooling model is the RB215LA starting at $898 for black. The side-by-side models start at a price of $1198 in black or $1398 in stainless. French door models like the RF265AA starts at $1498. Other French Door models ofter features like internal water dispensers and in door ice and water(RF266AA and RF267AA). No matter what your budget or needs, Samsung offers a refrigerator with Twin Cooling that will meet them.

  1. I bought the Samsung RF266AAWP Twin Cooling refrigerator about 3 months ago. It is the best French door bottom freezer refrigerator on the market for the price. It really is a great deal. The stainless (RF266AARS) and the titanium/platinum look refrigerator models (RF266AARS and RF266AASH) really don’t cost that much more if that is the look you need. I didn’t need an in door ice maker, so this option with filtered water was perfect for me.

  2. Well, we just bought the Samsung RF266AASH and unfortunately - we can’t get it to cool. We’ve tried unplugging it to reset. Then we tried holding down the Energy Saver Button and the Power Freezer Button to reset and still nothing.

The display continues to show OF f. However, I can’t find any references in the manual nor on the web to what this means.

  3. We purchased the Samsung RF266AASH refrigerator from Lowes 11 months ago. We liked the look, layout and twin cooling feature of the refrigerator. It performs its basic function, keeping things cold, just fine. We are disappointed with how little ice the ice maker produces.

Unfortunately, we do have strong reservations about recommending this product to others. We have had repeated problems with parts failing. Most repairs have been covered under warranty. But when a small plastic piece that’s part of the water dispenser switch inexplicably snapped in half, Samsung refused to replace this part, effectively not honoring their warranty promise to “cover manufacturing defects in material and workmanship” and to “repair or replace any part found to be defective”. Why they chose not to cover this $1.00 part after covering everything else is baffling.

Anyway, here’s the list of things that have gone wrong during the first 11 months that we’ve owned this product:
    - Main electronic controller board locked up and had to be replaced
    - Left freezer drawer slide assembly had to be replaced twice
    - Ice maker somehow fell from mounting position into freezer drawer. When we pulled the drawer out, the electrical wires connected to the ice maker were cut in half. Ice maker was replaced.
    - Water dispenser switch breaks. Samsung refuses to send replacement part.

Considering how many things have gone wrong in 11 months, we have serious misgivings about how reliable this product will be over the next 10 to 15 years — assuming it makes it that long.

If we had to do it over, we’d buy a different manufacturer’s refrigerator.

  4. i am an appliance specialist at lowes. the samsung models are the top of the line! i highly recomend them to my customers and have great replies!

  5. Spend some time on Google. Samsung side-by-sides are notorious for freezing up and other problems that prevent the fridge from cooling. They’re big and loaded for the price, but when you lose a couple of hundred bucks worth of food and have to unplug it for 48 hours a few times, you quickly make up the difference in purchase price.

    Avoid Samsung refrigerators.
