I'd have to disagree with the "poor water retention" assessment. First off, it has special water crystals that retain water so it's impossible for it to not be better than just plain seed alone. That said, I have been using it for 4 to 5 days now and I don't have to water the Scott's EZ seed patch every day. They say to water it and it turns dark brown. Then when it turns light brown it's time to water again. Well it took 3 days before it even began to turn light brown. Some patches took 2 days. I really think it all depends on where you live. If you live in a dry state like Arizona, I don't think anything would stay wet for very long. But I live on the East coast and EZ Seed is working as advertised in terms of water retention. It's too soon to see grass grow though... .
