Slow Drains and Drain Care
The plumbing and drains in your home are truly a living, breathing creature. There are millions of enzyme producing bacteria working to help your drains flow fast. Unfortunately, we are doing a lot to keep them for working as well as they could. Today’s liquid detergents, antibacterial soaps, and protein based fabric softeners cause a lot of problems in the drains. A biofilm, or”goo”, begins to build up and the bacteria cannot keep up. As this build up continues, the size of the drain line reduces and the chances of a serious clog increases.
A bacterial or enzyme based drain cleaner can help restore a balance of good bacteria in our drains. They are also less harsh so we don’t damage our fixtures, pipes, or wax rings. Most of these cleaners are safe for all types or plumbing and with sewer or septic. Read the label instructions, because amount and use may vary.

Once in the spring and once in the fall. The Liquid Drain and Trap Cleaner I use to fix slow drains inside the home and to keep the garbage disposal clean.
